Close Interval Potential Survey

Benefits

  • Measuring the remaining adequacy in the cathodic protection system
  • Can be surveyed from above ground level
  • Can detect interference from other structures
  • Get potential value readings every 2m interval
  • Can detect stray current/Stry current

CIPS :

  • Measurement of short-range protective potential.
  • Maximum distance is equal to depth of cover.
  • Generally ~ 1m (standard pipe depth 1.5 m).
  • To obtain relatively continuous data.
  • TR is “on–off” to obtain protection potential data.
  • Potential logging with logger.
  • Symptoms of coating damage or stray current can be detected immediately There is attenuation deviation.
